Based out of Sana’a, Yemen, security and military professional Charles Hoelzel brings a long and successful track record as a U.S. soldier to his work as Managing Partner of Muse Pro Group. In August 1980, Charles Hoelzel joined the United States Navy, where he graduated BUD/S Class 117 by September 1982. While serving as an active-duty Navy SEAL on Teams 2, 6, and DEVGRU, Charles Hoelzel provided support to hostages of the TWA Flight 847 Hijacking of July 1985 and the Achille Lauro Hijacking of October 1985. Charles Hoelzel took part in Operation Earnest Will from 1987 to 1900, where he conducted direct action combat in the Persian Gulf, and also engaged the enemy during the 1989-1990 invasion of Panama under Operation Just Cause (Task Force White). Returning to the Middle East for Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm from 1990 to 1991, Charles Hoelzel again saw action as a Navy SEAL. Charles Hoelzel remained in the Persian Gulf at the conclusion of the war and trained military personnel of the Kuwait Special Forces and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In September 1992, Charles Hoelzel entered the United States Marine Corps as a Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO), where he joined the F.A.S.T. and 1st Force Recon (FMF) units. Carrying out a wide variety of essential leadership duties over the next seven years, Charles Hoelzel oversaw combat missions in Southwest Asia, the Balkans, and the Horn of Africa. Charles Hoelzel planned missions and staging for TRAP in the former Yugoslavia, conducted reconnaissance near Mogadishu and Kismayo in Somalia as part of Operation Restore Hope, and specialized in the operation of long-range communications equipment. In September 1999, Charles Hoelzel returned to America to serve in United States Marine Corps Reserve units in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, and Camp Pendleton, California. A Master Sergeant, Charles Hoelzel retired from active and reserve duty in January 2002.

After more than 20 years serving various departments of the U.S. military on active and reserve duty, Charles Hoelzel began his career in the civilian world. From August 1999 to January 2002, Charles Hoelzel worked on the NASCAR circuit, performing as Assistant Director of Race Operations for UNOCAL and Director of Transportation for such racing legends as Greg Biffle and Richard Petty. Just before the outbreak of the Iraq War in 2003, Charles Hoelzel returned to the security profession, receiving a post with DynCorp International Working for DynCorp International at ARCENT (Army Central Command) in Doha, Qatar, Charles Hoelzel fulfilled the essential duties of Force Protection Specialist. From February 2003 to October 2004, Charles Hoelzel functioned as Tactical Commander and Guard Detail for such high-ranking officials as President George W. Bush, Secretary of State Colin Powell, and Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld. Charles Hoelzel also held the responsibility of managing the perimeter guard for U.S. Army Generals Tommy Franks and John Abizaid and U.S. Marine Corps General Peter Pace while contracting for DynCorp International. In addition, the USO Celebrity Security Detail enjoyed Charles Hoelzel’s presence as Tactical Commander. Charles Hoelzel moved on from his position with DynCorp International to be Director of Security and Operations for BH Defense in November 2004. With a vast array of responsibilities, Charles Hoelzel served BH Defense in locations as disparate as Arlington, Virginia; Baghdad, Iraq; and Kabul, Afghanistan. An indispensable coordinator of security and logistics for areas of conflict, Charles Hoelzel managed and deployed contract personnel and equipment to Iraq and Afghanistan. Handling all aspects of security detail, Charles Hoelzel devised risk assessments, planned tactical anti-terrorist operations, gathered intelligence, and more to assist BH Defense in its endeavors. Joining the U.S. Navy SEALS division in 1980, Charles Hoelzel experienced combat situations during the Invasion of Panama (Operation Just Cause), Operation Earnest Will in the Persian Gulf, and Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Charles Hoelzel later entered the United States Marine Corps, where he commanded troops in Somalia, Southwest Asia, and the former Yugoslavia. Currently Managing Partner at Muse Pro Group in Sana’a, Yemen, Charles Hoelzel deploys necessary security services to locations around the globe.
