Charles Hoelzel

After more than 20 years serving various departments of the U.S. military on active and reserve duty, Charles Hoelzel began his career in the civilian world. From August 1999 to January 2002, Charles Hoelzel worked on the NASCAR circuit, performing as Assistant Director of Race Operations for UNOCAL and Director of Transportation for such racing legends as Greg Biffle and Richard Petty. Just before the outbreak of the Iraq War in 2003, Charles Hoelzel returned to the security profession, receiving a post with DynCorp International Working for DynCorp International at ARCENT (Army Central Command) in Doha, Qatar, Charles Hoelzel fulfilled the essential duties of Force Protection Specialist. From February 2003 to October 2004, Charles Hoelzel functioned as Tactical Commander and Guard Detail for such high-ranking officials as President George W. Bush, Secretary of State Colin Powell, and Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld. Charles Hoelzel also held the responsibility of managing the perimeter guard for U.S. Army Generals Tommy Franks and John Abizaid and U.S. Marine Corps General Peter Pace while contracting for DynCorp International. In addition, the USO Celebrity Security Detail enjoyed Charles Hoelzel’s presence as Tactical Commander. Charles Hoelzel moved on from his position with DynCorp International to be Director of Security and Operations for BH Defense in November 2004. With a vast array of responsibilities, Charles Hoelzel served BH Defense in locations as disparate as Arlington, Virginia; Baghdad, Iraq; and Kabul, Afghanistan. An indispensable coordinator of security and logistics for areas of conflict, Charles Hoelzel managed and deployed contract personnel and equipment to Iraq and Afghanistan. Handling all aspects of security detail, Charles Hoelzel devised risk assessments, planned tactical anti-terrorist operations, gathered intelligence, and more to assist BH Defense in its endeavors. Joining the U.S. Navy SEALS division in 1980, Charles Hoelzel experienced combat situations during the Invasion of Panama (Operation Just Cause), Operation Earnest Will in the Persian Gulf, and Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Charles Hoelzel later entered the United States Marine Corps, where he commanded troops in Somalia, Southwest Asia, and the former Yugoslavia. Currently Managing Partner at Muse Pro Group in Sana’a, Yemen, Charles Hoelzel deploys necessary security services to locations around the globe.
